1 package (18 oz.) NESTLÉ ® TOLL HOUSE ® Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Bar Dough
Parchment paper
For the Icing:
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons water
Approximately 4 cups powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F, according to package directions.
* Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
* Place 4 cookie sticks or chopsticks on the baking sheet.
* On a generously floured work surface, roll out the cold dough to a 1/4 inch thickness.
* Using the 3 inch x 5 inch guide (index card or cardboard) as a pattern, cut out rectangles of dough.
* Use a spatula to lift each rectangle and place it on the cookie sheet so that one 3 inch edge is overlapping a cookie stick. Be sure the cookies are spaced at least 1/2 inch apart from each other and the other cookie sticks.
* Bake the cookies for 16 to 18 minutes (according to package directions) or until the edges are light golden brown.
* Remove them from the oven. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes; carefully loosen each cookie with a spatula. Use caution on the cookie stick end while loosening. Cool on the baking sheet completely before frosting.

To Decorate

* Mix lemon juice, water, and two cups of the powdered sugar in a bowl.
* Paint each cookie with a base coat of this white icing. Allow this layer to dry.
* While the base layer is drying, add remaining powdered sugar to the bowl gradually, until a thicker piping icing is obtained.
* Divide this icing in thirds. Set aside one third for the white stars. Dye one third red and one third blue. Mix the colored icing until the dye is mixed completely.
* Fill three piping bags. One with red, one with blue and one with white icing.
* Using the #44 tip on the blue bag, pipe a square in the upper left hand corner of the cookie.
* After thoroughly cleaning, fit the #44 tip on the red piping bag and pipe seven red stripes across the length of the flag.
* Now fit the white piping bag with the #24 tip and decorate the blue square with white stars. You may only be able to fit between 20 to 30 stars.
* Let the icing dry completely (this may take several hours).

* If you get four cookies from the rolled out dough, give the fourth cookie to your little one to decorate. He or she will have a great time squeezing the icing from the piping bags.

* It is easier to work with the dough if it is very cold. If it becomes too soft, refrigerate it for about five minutes or until slightly firm.
