1 5-pound pork butt roast
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 14-ounce can beef broth
1/4 cup brewed coffee
1 16- to 20-ounce bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce, or more, depending on taste

Cut the roast in half and rub each piece with salt and  pepper. Put the pork in a slow cooker, add the broth and coffee, cover, and cook at low for 6 to 8 hours or until the meat is tender when pierced with a fork.

Transfer the meat to a cutting board. Using a fork or a knife, or both, pull the meat from the bone. Chop the large pieces and shred others with your fingers. The size of the pieces depends on your taste. Return the meat to the slow cooker and add the barbecue sauce.

Cover the pot and cook on low for 1 hour longer, stirring occasionally. Serve the meat as is or on rolls for sandwiches.
